Ghostbusters 3… Who you Gonna Call?
A lot of people are very excited about the prospect of a third Ghostbusters movie, which means the original stars are forever fielding questions about what form Ghostbusters 3 will take. Luckily, Dan Aykroyd is a very giving, and possibly forgiving, man reveals what he knows.
There has been much speculation over whether the original Ghostbusters will still be plying their trade in the third film or whether a new, younger set of Ghostbusters will have taken on the job. Aykroyd recently spoke to MTV Movies about this aspect of the movie, and hinted at some of the plot details.
When we do the ‘Ghostbusters 3? movie, hopefully, Sigourney will be in it, I know we’ll make that happen. But there will be a whole new generation that has to be trained, and that whole new generation will be led by an individual who you’ll all love when you meet him but I’m not going to tell you anything yet.”
“There’ll be lots of cadets, boys and girls, who’ll be learning how to use the psychotron, the accelerators and all the new stuff, the neuron splitter, which is going to be the interplaner, interceptor and all these great tools that they’re going to have, to flip from dimension to dimension.
This sounds good on paper, and with the original cast not getting any younger would be the obvious approach to take. I personally wouldn’t want the new breed to be too young. Please let it be Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen and the like rather than Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and that lot. For the love of God.
Dan Aykroyd has confirmed that the third Ghostbusters movie is all set to go before the cameras — with the original cast in place to reprise the characters from the 1984 film.
Aykroyd still fears the project could “blow up” “at any second” but he hopes the new film will usher in a new generation of all-girl Ghostbusters.
He also mentioned the possibility of Eliza Dushku or Alyssa Milano appearing in the movie. No, not in the nude, but still i bet those Ghostbuster jumpsuits can be pretty sexy with a fitted look. But what about SLIMER?
It looks set for release in 2012…
